About OSCCF

Today more than 100 million Chinese still live in poverty. Each year, 100,000 Chinese children are abandoned, most of them being disabled or girls. Meanwhile, China's poverty-ridden rural areas have a child mortality rate 9 times higher than that of China's big cities. When children from impoverished families suffer from severe diseases or accidental injuries, parents simply cannot afford medical treatment and many give up hope.

Overseas Save Chinese Children Foundation (OSCCF) is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to improving the lives of orphaned and impoverished children in China by addressing their medical and developmental needs, and by bringing love to these children’s lives.

Currently, OSCCF conducts rescue work through its affiliate in China, the AngelMom Fund. AngelMom is a group of volunteers sharing OSCCF’s mission of helping disadvantaged Chinese children in need of urgent medical attention. With its core members concentrated in Beijing and Shanghai, two cities with the most advanced medical resources in China, AngelMom has grown rapidly over the past few years and has already helped more than 400 children across the country. OSCCF have chosen to team up with AngelMom because we believe this partnership has the following advantages:

Extensive operating network already in place

Almost all AngelMom members are well-educated young professional women. They were first introduced to each other on one of the forums of Yaolan.com, a major Chinese parenting website visited by more than 250,000 people every day. This particular forum is designed to facilitate aid for children in need. As more and more young mothers and concerned citizens gathered to make a stronger rescue force, AngelMom was formed, and Yaolan became their operational platform. Thanks to the nature of the internet, AngelMom is able to respond fast and reach out nationwide. Wherever a child needs help, AngelMom can usually mobilize volunteers closest to the child within a couple of days.

Grass-rooted in most Chinese regions

As OSCCF’s operating affiliate, AngelMom not only boasts an extensive network, but is also deeply rooted in most Chinese regions. AngelMom, working closely with various volunteer groups nationwide, possesses strong local knowledge and connections, giving them a better chance of accessing local medical resources that may be otherwise unavailable to “outsiders”.

Minimal administrative cost

Both OSCCF and AngelMom are all-volunteer organizations. OSCCF currently has no paid staff, while AngelMom has only two paid personnel. Therefore funds donated to OSCCF will be almost entirely passed on to the children being helped.

Besides raising funds for AngelMom, OSCCF also procures international medical resources for children in need. These efforts include assisting them to come to the U.S. for surgeries, or have surgeries performed by U.S. doctors in China. Last but not least, OSCCF works hard on raising community awareness of this most vulnerable group of children in China.

OSCCF's potential donors include people from all corners of the community who share our cause, as well as international charitable foundations. We insist on keeping our financial procedures public and transparent and therefore encourage public oversight.
